In this video we teach you how to factory reset your Nest Smoke Detector. If you change your wifi network you may need to factory reset your nest smoke detectors. Or if you are moving into a home with Nest Smoke Detectors or out of a home with Nest Smoke Detectors it’s a good idea to factory reset your Nest Smoke Detectors to eliminate any personal information on the device.

To factory reset your Nest Smoke Detector do the following:
1. Get a broom stick or long pole, so you can reach the device.
2. Press the middle button on the Nest Protect Smoke Detector and it will light up and start talking to you. Keep holding the button down and don’t let up from holding the Nest Smoke Detector middle button you will need to keep constant pressure on it.
3. After about 10-20 seconds the device will then go into a reset mode where the device will start a reset countdown. Keep placing pressure on the Nest Protect Smoke detector center button. Do not let up.
4. Once the count down has completed and the Nest Smoke Detector has gone through the reset sequence you can take the pressure of the center button.
5. The Nest Protect Smoke Detector has now been reset to factory defaults.
